Admissions Requirements

Successful applicants must have a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college in the United States.


Prerequisite courses include:

 

ü       General Biology (1 semester)

ü       Human Anatomy and Physiology with Laboratory (2 semesters)

ü       Microbiology with Laboratory (1 semester)

ü       Genetics (1 semester)

ü       General Chemistry with Laboratory (2 semesters)

ü       Organic Chemistry with Laboratory (1 semester)

ü       Biochemistry (1 semester)

ü       Statistics or Biostatistics (1 semester)

ü       Psychology (2 semesters – 1 semester in Developmental Psychology or Abnormal Psychology)

 

Three letters of recommendation are required, preferably from physicians, PAs or clinical supervisors, and others familiar with your clinical experience or academic preparation.
 
Submission of Graduate Record Exam (GRE) Scores.

 

Applicants should have 1000 hours of direct patient care experience. Examples of qualifying experience include:

ü       Emergency Room Technician

ü       Emergency Medical Technician

ü       Military Medic, Clinical Specialist

ü       Surgical Technician

ü       Radiological Technician

ü       Nursing Assistant

ü       Nursing

ü       Laboratory Technician

ü       Phlebotomy

ü       Athletic Trainers

ü       Physical Therapist or PT Assistant

ü       Pharmacy Technician

 

The types of experience that are not accepted include PA or physician observer or shadow, candy striper, CPR or ACLS instructor, patient transporter, non-clinical research assistant, pharmaceutical representative, life guard, aerobics instructor, medical secretary or other clerical positions, or any experience that does not involve direct patient contact in a clinical setting.
