Our Mission

The mission of the Campbell University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences Clinical Research Center (CUCRC) is to provide continuing education and applied training experiences for industry scientists and Campbell University students and fellows. The CRC further provides consultation engaged to support research by College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences faculty, and provide skilled resources for collaborative partnerships with academic/medical institutions and the biotech industry for the conduct of patient-oriented research.

Education

The education mission of the CRC is to expand the offerings and educational opportunities of Campbell University beyond the traditional classrooms and matriculation programs. The CUCRC is engaged in a number of activities that interact with other departments of the University, outside nonprofit organizations supportive of drug development, and with for-profit organizations.

Activities include

Symposia and Short Courses

CUCRC personnel are on the Bioprocessing and Process Development Steering Committee sponsored by the North Carolina Biotechnology Center. Upcoming symposia can be found on the website.

The CUCRC is developing a number of short courses, including a course on PK/PD modeling short course in drug development. Courses are typically 2 to 3 days, depending on the topic being discussed. The courses are open to all involved in drug development, and are targeted to the drug researcher who needs specialized training in a particular area.

The CUCRC has established an agreement with Inter-Ed Faculty of Clinical Research India Pvt Ltd (IFCR India) to provide Continuing Education (ACPE accreditation) for clinical research classes. The CUCRC has also partnered with innovative companies to fulfill organizational training needs. The Durham VA Medical Center, Geriatric Education Center is the training location for our 1-2 year postdoctoral fellowship.

Clinical Research

The CRC specializes in retrospective database and observational studies. In addition, CU has faculty who have specific interests in patient oriented and translational research studies. The CRC provides collaborative statistical, data management and study operational support for these initiatives.

Research Support

The CUCRC engages to support research by faculty members of CUSOP departments, including Pharmacy Practice, CUPSI, Clinical Research. The CRC provides statistal support for residents in the CU residency program as well as the MSCR program. The CUCRC will provide support for grant applications.

Cross-disciplinary and External Research

The CUCRC engages in cross- disciplinary research on various topics with industry scientists, faculty members, and independent methodological research
